Hi, I'm Catherine
I am a NYC based birth doula with a background in integrative health. I value an evidence-based and client centered approach, ensuring that the support and information I provide is rooted in your values and individual needs. I have no agenda on how a family chooses to birth or parent their children, but rather hope that my presence can serve as a way to help you meet your own personal goals and wishes. My primary focus is on helping families feel safe, seen, and supported through the process. I approach birth as a sacred journey tailored to each client's unique beliefs and preferences.

What does a birth doula do?
Doulas provide continuous physical and emotional support and assistance in gathering information for clients and their partners during labor and birth. Navigating the myriad of birthing decisions in today’s media-saturated world can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. My approach is to adapt to the unique needs, values, and preferences of each family, offering individualized care and guidance tailored to your circumstances. A doula does not make decisions for you, alternatively they provide resources to help guide you in making informed decisions.
Doulas are not medical professionals. We are well versed in non-medical skills and proven comfort techniques and tools such as massage, positioning strategies, and relaxation methods, to assist you during labor. We do not perform clinical tasks such as blood pressure monitoring or vaginal exams. We will advocate without taking over, and ensure you are an active participant in your birth. My personal goal as a doula is to help you have a safe and satisfying birth as you define it. Whether you choose a medicated or unmedicated birth, deliver in a hospital, birthing center, or at home, my commitment is to honor your choices and help you feel confident every step of the way. The best way I can support the families I work with is by creating a non-judgmental, nurturing space where you feel truly heard and respected.
About Me
My path to becoming a doula is rooted in a deep respect for the wisdom of the body and the many ways people have cared for birth and postpartum across cultures and generations. I hold a science-based environmental degree from the University of Vermont, where I also completed a certificate in Integrative Medicine. Through this program I explored herbalism, nutrition, somatics, and indigenous and ancestral ways of knowing alongside the science of integrative medicine. My education brings me to value an evidence-based approach, marrying it with holistic traditions and complimentary medicines where appropriate.
I believe that birth and postpartum are profound life transitions that deserve attentive, compassionate support. I am especially interested in how nourishment, rest, touch, and community support can help families feel more grounded and cared for during the postpartum period.
At the heart of my work is a belief that well-being is deeply interconnected—between parent and baby, family and community, and even the health of our environment.
Outside of my work, you can find me in the parks, surfing or swimming in the ocean, climbing, dancing, or cooking and sharing good food with loved ones.
